Packaging Design for Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair luxury skincare franchise. Advanced Night Repair Serum is Estée Lauder’s #1 Serum and has been the best selling serum globally, grossing over $2 billion in annual sales. In upgrading the packaging design for the serum and the entire franchise, it was of utmost importance to maintain heritage design cues, while signifying innovation in formula and elevating the user experience. By switching from plastic to glass, the package became recyclable. The silhouette was modernized with squared shoulders and radiused corners, and the iconic amber color was used as a gradient spray to create more depth and make the bottles and jars feel more precious, as light could pass through the thick glass heel. Each product dispensing system was reconsidered, for example, the eye gel jar was redesigned in pressed glass with a half dome interior, so no product would be caught in corners. With this being the most iconic skincare product at Estée Lauder, it was important that glass color and gold finishes are consistent across multiple global suppliers as the production is regionalized.
